Idaho’s Republican Party was well represented at the RNC in Milwaukee, WI where we took 32 voting delegates and 32 alternates to the RNC. Boise County was represented by Jean Mollenkopf Moore (voting delegate), Steve Moore (alternate delegate) and Thelma Medina (alternate delegate) selected by the IDGOP to attend.
A Welcome Reception was held by the RNC at the Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, WI. Words cannot describe the amazing selection of food and beverages. Entertainment for the evening was Trace Atkins. Idaho’s delegation attended this festive evening.
The 2024 RNC kicked off on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the FISERV Forum in Milwaukee, WI where capacity seating was estimated to be 10,000. During the official nomination process of Donald J. Trump – President, he first announced via social media that J. D. Vance was his choice for Vice President. All states, District of Columbia and Territories declared their delegate votes. Idaho’s delegation led by IDGOP Chair Dorothy Moon, cast Idaho’s 32 votes for Donald J. Trump. Donald J. Trump received 2,437 delegate votes.
Many state delegations attended Tuesday’s party at the Harley Davidson Museum hosted by Western States Association. Local music was provided along with a surprise visit and talk by Don Jr. From there we went back to the FISERV Forum for a long night of speeches and presentations. One speaker was Peter Navarro, Trump advisor, and newly released political prisoner. Memorable speakers were the 13 Gold Star parents who spoke having lost their children due to the nightmare at Abby Gate, Afghanistan.
Most state delegations attended Wednesday’s Southern States gathering at Brewer Stadium where we were treated to amazing foods and beverages. Concert was by Lee Greenwood. We headed back to the FISERV Forum for another night of political speeches and introduction speeches for JD Vance. Mrs. Vance introduced her husband. One of the more memorable speeches of the evening was given by Donald J. Trump Jr.’s seventeen year old granddaughter speaking on the traits and qualities of her grandfather.
Thursday arrived quickly and Idaho’s delegation along with members of North Dakota and Nebraska’s delegations traveled early a.m. to Ripon, Minnesota to visit the birthplace of the Republican Party. Pictures were taken there and we listened to a great presentation. Lunch was provided generously by Idaho’s Senator Crapo. We got back to the Forum in time for introduction speeches for Donald J. Trump and eventually the acceptance speech by Donald J. Trump. Melania Trump was presented to the delegations by her husband. DJT spoke briefly on the assassination attempt that failed. He gave tribute to the fallen fire fighter who died while protecting his family from bullets fired by the shooter. Even Hulk Hogan appeared closing night and spoke endorsing Donald J. Trump. Lee Greenwood performed at closing night. A spectacular closing of the evening was opera singer Christopher Macchio performing the spectacular Nessundorma during the massive balloon drop.
The 2024 RNC was memorable for all in attendance. Departure from Milwaukee and heading home, however, was a serious challenge for most as flights were cancelled, debit/credit cards were denied and general chaos ensued. Happy to report that Idaho’s full delegation has officially finally made it home.
Yours in Liberty,
Jean Mollenkopf
